What is "GOSPEL"?
Even in Japan, "Gospel" has gained overwhelming recognition in the "Love Song for Angels" series.
I think there are many people who imagined that many black people lined up and sang a fun song while clapping their hands.
This is also called "Black (Afro American = black
(* 1) ) GOSPEL", and is a form in which a Christian black person evolved a hymn independently.
(* 1) In the United States, calling race by skin color has definitely been taboo in recent years, and Afro American is appropriate as a translation for black people.

In the first place, "GOSPEL" is said to be an abbreviation of "GOD SPELL = God's Word / Happy News" (* There are various theories) , and the "word" written in the Bible by God / Jesus is It corresponds to "GOSPEL".
Therefore, the correct expression for "gospel" mentioned at the beginning may be "GOSPEL Music by Afro American People". In the United States, like GOSPEL Music, GOSPEL Dance and GOSPEL Drama are also common.

Now, after talking about the original meaning of "GOSPEL", I would like to talk about "gospel" again.
I would like to talk to you.

It is said that there are about 200,000 people singing gospel in Japan, and it is handled at many music schools and local events. At Christmas time, you can hear gospel music in various places such as the concourse of a train station and the plaza of a commercial facility.
It should be noted that most of the people who sing this gospel are non-Christians.
This highly religious music is sung by non-Christians.
Perhaps this situation is occurring in Japan, which has a strong sense of resistance to religion. Furthermore, many Japanese sing gospel in English, which is said to have a complex.
There is no doubt that gospel has a strong appeal.

At Akasaka Church, Japanese GOSPEL sings on the second Sunday of every month.
The purpose is to learn the style of "gospel" in NYC, convert it into a form that is easier for Japanese people to receive, and convey the words of God and Jesus to as many people as possible.
Whether you're already immersed in the charm of "gospel", you're curious about it, or you haven't heard of it yet.
We hope that you will come into contact with the unique Japanese GOSPEL.
